Well, apparently, psychologists think that writing poetry as expression helps one feel better through the very act of its expression. I just composed a poem for the first time in years, and actually do feel a bit better. So, it works?
My English 1001-2 professor said that I have an in-built desire, a need to write. So, in an effort to lighten the community and fulfill the need which apparently is really there, I put forth this thread for this purpose: GIVE ME TOPICS. I will write. Subjects can also include songs and other lyrical inspirations (I had a specific melody and lyric stanza in mind while writing this one), movies or TV shows, or even characters. I do utilize a thesaurus and dictionary for these as well, so maybe I'll even expand my (or your!) vocabulary in the process.
This is what I just composed to start it off. The background melody is The Offspring: "The Kids Aren't Alright". The lyric background is the first stanza of Megadeth: "Take No Prisoners", from 0:49-1:19 in that recording.
“Custom”
Let me return, to less complications.
Let no ill will, for the implications!
Let no sordid rumors, nor candid causations!
Shimmer, O frosted dawn desert, shine and see!
Sanctified sacrifice of soul, brought to knee;
Soul of soulless circumstance, our jubilee!
When four legs gave way to two;
Where bubbles were shone as true;
What fervor! Who be you?
Crush their mind, forgetful elephant!
Blast their health, weak-spined donkey!
Affair their status, quo!
No peace! Our motivation is tattered.
No war! Our motives are inflicted.
No death! Our life is inadequated.

Beefy Topic: Erectile Dysfunction
Background music: Bon Jovi, Mystery Train
No performance, some pleasure;
No nova, all sincere;
No no no, it can't stop here!
Full-on failed success, cease the clatter.
Fulfillment decree, rare of mutter;
Fell the tree, effeminate starer!
Never over, determined fate,
Necrotic skill in thy gate,
Negative take, regressive late.
Deny, deny, deny ye part!
Despoted partition of heart!
Despoil the seed here tart!

Wish I hadn't taken so much time off. I've totally forgotten my idea for this. Oh well!
Topic: Addiction
Musical Inspiration: In Flames - The New World
Crack the fingers,
Grab the remote,
Chug that MONSTER,
It's time to feed the beast!
Virtual atrocity, pixelated alacrity,
Fuel the drive, drive the hate,
Hate the enemy, enemize the friends,
Frail cross, it ends!
My life can go by,
One feels as though sly,
Power in or under hand,
Fell through the wires to land--
"In my hand is a new world!'
I am more than mine,
Inside of my mind,
I cannot be defined!

Subject: My black lab dog, Annie. Background music: Joseph's Lullaby
My Buddy
Mouth hanging with fatigue, head heavy with fever, ear swollen with infection which will never heal.
All I want for you now is rest, calm and peace, please stop heaving in pain, I will do that for you.
The weight of your body holds so much excess now, fever brimming to near-lethality and yet your legs shiver.
So afraid, just wanting to be outside, not sure why we have been giving you so very much attention these weeks, as cancer eats everything inside.
Rest now, be free, go run. Your dreams no longer interrupted. Give your pain away, we accept it. Relax, you are not in trouble, just...
So cold...
